My landlord came over last week and asked us to move all the furniture out of the rooms so they can have the hardwood floors redone. They said it would take a couple of days. Just what are we supposed to do with all of our belongings while this is being done. Can they legally do this??

That is completely bizarre. I can't imagine why a landlord would do this while the property is rented. Is your lease nearly up? In any case, I suggest the following...

First, read your lease carefully, so you know exactly what it says. If the terms do not clearly indicate that you can be subject to temporary displacement for improvements, I suggest calling him and telling him (very nicely, of course!) that his plans are fine with you, and that you will await further information from him about the movers, storage, and insurance, along with hotel accommodations, that he has arranged for you while the work is completed.

Are there any rooms that won't be affected? Will they do all the rooms at once or will they do rooms 1 and 2, then two days later rooms 3 and 4.
