I'm getting ready to relocate from Alabama in about 6 months. I used to live in Boulder for a year and really loved it. I had to move back to the south for family issues and am now able to relocate. Since my husband and I do not bring in a lot of income (community college adjunct teacher and student/coffee shop or other service jobs) we would need an affordable place. I know Boulder has a reputation for being rather expensive (and rightly so).
Seems like I remember an area out towards Table Mesa/S.Broadway that was a little cheaper. Does anyone live in this area or know any other neighborhoods where a married couple with 2 large dogs(60lbs each) can rent a house/apt for no more than $850 a month? The cheaper the better. I've noticed a lot of rentals are not pet friendly.
Community colleges near by are a must. I know there are a few in Westminster and other suburbs.
We lived in Nederland to cut cost last time and I hated it because all of our friends lived down the canyon and the locals were not welcoming to say the least. (The beauty of the place was OK to live with though!)

I've accepted I will probably have to look at Denver instead but I'm wondering if there is a glimmer of hope. Help!

You might be able to find an apartment in Boulder with your budget. You will not find many houses anywhere in the metro area for that rent.
