Default Is there anyone with a brain in Boulder?

Having previously lived in Colorado, and even a short while in Boulder I know what Boulder is about. I know I will not be running into many of my republican friends while strolling down the Pearl St Mall. However , is there anyone with a brain involved with coordinating events on the mall? We rented a home for a few nights in Boulder and decided to walk down the mall on Saturday. After seeing a few rainbow flags amongst the assorted booths and a few too many women with arm hair, I realized there was some sort of gay pride event in progress. Ok, I was born in Berkeley, I am no stranger to the need of some of some folks to feel like they need attention. Be it gays, straights, peaceniks, or football fans, sometimes people want to feel like they belong. That's fine. However, will someone explain to me why at 1:00 on a Saturday afternoon , without any warning, there needs to be a transgender ( or whatever the pc term would be for a man wearing women's panties would be) doing some sort of strip tease dance to the tune of "show me your pea-****". I mean would it be acceptable for the straight pride festival, in the middle of the mall , to have a stripper onstage to the tune of show me your *****-cat? I am just guessing the feminists would have none of that. Then again just common sense would tell you that might not appropriate in a public area known for having families ( and maybe even some god-fearing republicans -eeek! - present ) strolling the mall doing some good old fashioned shopping. Do I really need to have my three boys , aged 9,7, and 2 ( much less me ) subjected to such inappropriate and apparently Boulder sanctioned behavior? If I was gay I would be ashamed of such a display and I know there are many in the gay community who would feel that the same way. Someone needs to worry less about being pc, and more about subjecting young children to transgender ( or straight ) strippers in the middle of a public mall on a Sat afternoon.

Perhaps you need to read the local calendar of events? Sounds like something that you should have been able to read about in advance - but I could be wrong. Anyone out there know about this?

Maybe you should lighten up? Your sons will deal with the horror of seeing people different from themselves better than you will by the sound of it.

Oh the mushy brain of the liberally disturbed individuals. I was wondering what took so long to get the liberal 1-A response. Stop pouring the pc kool-aid and sober up. It has NOTHING to do with seeing people different then themselves!!!!! How about the fact that kids shouldn't have to walk into someone stripping on a public stage in the middle of the afternoon with music blaring about showing his-her-whatever's pea -****. Under your logic I suppose I should bring my kids down to the swingers club and introduce them to alternative lifestyles . Just for once in your liberal life , think before you throw up that ridiculous inculcated vomit.

Personally, I wish that all fear mongering people would give up their fear of God and focus on the love of God. When that transpires...what a wonderful world it would be! Without the fear clouding one's thought process, minor isssues like this could be dealt with smootly, easily, and pro-actively. The whining would disappear.

Does anyone know for sure if this show was sanctioned? Does anyone know if it was an official part of the entertainment or just someone getting up there without warning? Did anyone bother to report it or just stand there complaining? Have you contacted the Council at all to complain or are you just going to come here and vent without actually doing anything about it?

This is exactly what I was about to suggest.

Rather than getting on a forum to vent and what seems to me as baiting, take some time to do a little research online as to whom you can contact to voice your complaint as a visiting tourist.

Nothing constructive will be accomplished by just getting on here an ranting if this is something you were that upset about.

Well stated. Thank you. We cannot solve this issue here, no sense keeping this topic open, it will only draw flies. Thread Closed.
