Default Wildfire in Boulder County

Another wildfire in Boulder - in March! It is dry, warm, and windy. . .

Lefthand Fire: Boulder County blaze up to 300 acres, air tanker on scene

The Lefthand Fire has grown to up to 300 acres in size, the U.S. Forest Service said this afternoon, as an air tanker began making slurry drops over the blaze. . .

An air tanker arrived from New Mexico and has begun making slurry drops on the fire, which has caused the evacuations of 223 households, including the Lake of the Pines subdivision.

The fire is threatening 12 structures, mostly in the area of Heil Valley Ranch, Brough said. Firefighters are on protective duty around each of the 12 structures, which are assumed to be homes, according to Boulder County.

Firefighers have lit backburns around some of the homes to keep the blaze from advancing. . .

Indeed it has been much too dry and windy - typical La Nina weather pattern. Positive thoughts go out to the folks in harms way and to our courageous firefighters!

Even where I live, we have no snow on the ground save for a few measly inches on the north side of the house.
All of the snow is west of the Peak to Peak hwy. I am hoping for one of our famously HUGE wet March snowstorms soon!
