Lawn care : Advice / tips / tricks for a healthier lawn?
So my next project is tackling the lawn - The front lawn is in a okay shape .. Got a few weeds etc. But the backyard is another story !! The previous owners had two dogs that were let out in the back and the lawn (if I can call it that!) is a mess of brown grass spots and tufts of green grass growing at random places. One corner is just weeds and no grass. At least it would be helpful if the ground was level but I got up&down variations that would cause major scalping as well. In short, it's going to be challenging in getting this lawn whipped back into shape.
Now, I am not new to maintaining a lawn but I certainly do NOT know the "intricacies" of Colorado lawns. Also, I am not sure if I can use the same products (Weed-B-Gon hose sprays) that I used in Wisconsin.
Any tips / tricks and advice to maintain a healthier lawn would be most appreciated.

Take the lawn out, and xeriscape your property.

Wow! You guys are pretty serious about Xeriscaping
Coming from the Midwest it is difficult to suddenly let go of having a green lawn around the home. Maybe after a few years we will go that route - but for now, the lawn stays.

Yeah, bluegrass lawns really make no sense in a semi-arid environment.

Thanks for the links. I used to think Xeriscaping meant taking the grass out and laying down a bunch of rocks and stones - Pretty interesting to find out new things you can do with the area around your home !
