Abo's hit a soft patch in the late '90's and early 2000's. They've really improved. Their best pies are at the Louisville location nowadays.
"Nasty" is only one person's opinion. Yelp reviews are pretty good.

I agree, Abo's is tasty; they are well-regarded in the area too and receive fairly high marks on all the foodie sites.

Red face Remember Roman Village Pizza?!?

All this talk of pizza brings back memories of Roman Village Pizza back in the 1970s. In the Williams Village Shopping Center on Baseline.

Nobody in the area makes pizza like Joeys on E. Colfax, Denver. If you're going to open up a pizza place, go down to Joeys and try the best, then try to do the same thing in Boulder. I'm a thin crust guy. I've tried Protos (all right), Pulcinella in Lafayette (nice and thin but Joeys is better) and Joeys about 30 times and never disappointed in the least.
