Default Anybody live in the Carbon Valley? (Firestone, Frederick, Dacono)

Just wondering what your take is on the area.

I don't live there, but do a lot of work for the City of Dacono. There is (or was before the housing slump) a lot of growth in the area. New grocery store, new recreation center, mostly lots and lots of new houses. It's about five minutes to I-25 and an easy 20 minute drive into downtown Denver if it isn't rush hour. Plan on doubling that during the morning commute.

What is your take on Dacono? To me it's a huge trailer park.

That's in the older part of town. There are new subdivisions going up, with lots more in the planning stages. The town is just emerging from its coal mining roots, and they are pro-active about development. You do have to go north across highway 52 for any shopping, and there's a new shopping area south on I-25 at Highway 7.

I live in Firestone. It's a nice growing community. In the next few years we'll have pretty much every big-box store, fast food chains, and other "modern amenities" on the planet. Well between Firestone, Fredrick and Dacono.

There is a lot of good things going on out here, new Library, new base ball park, new shopping centers, new houses, etc... Very low crime rate, a couple of charter schools, and some of the highest rated public schools in the St. Vrain School district (for what ever that means).

I like it for the most part, but the wife and I enjoyed the small town feel that was here when we first moved here. That is going away. But if you are looking for a nice place to live in the `burbs' than this is a nice area.
