Schools in Loveland, Longmont, Greeley, Windsor, Ft. Lupton
Hello everyone -
My family and I will be relocating to the northern CO area soon and I will be working in Platteville. Can anyone shoot me straigt about what areas would be the absolute best for schools in that area and what are the areas to absolutely stay away from?
We're also looking for a home with some horse-friendly acreage in the 350-400k range - any thoughts?
Thanks!

Anyone out there?
Does anyone have any comments on this? I'd like to hear your thoughts before I actually move!
Thanks!

I haven't lived in Northern Colorado for some time, but when I was last there, I heard good things about Thompson (Loveland) and St Vrain (Longmont plus surrounding areas).

You will hear good and bad about every school district. People have probably been reluctant to reply because:
1. Not a lot of people live up that way
2. In metro Denver, acreage in the $350-400K range is non-existent. Prices are lower in N. Colorado, but not that much. It is probably quite difficult to find such a property.

Josh, thanks for telling me some great specifics - I wouldn't have thought of that on my own! Extremely helpful!

I personally would stay away from Fort Lupton and Greeley school districts. I know several of the schools in greeley are in trouble with the state for their test scores, and Fort Lupton has had problems in the past.
I would check into Loveland, Windsor, Valley (which is the Platteville school district), and the ST Vrain districts, all seem to have good reputations, but much of what I know is based on 10 years ago when I lived in the area.

The best school CO is Ridgeview Classical School in Fort Collins (a charter school). The kids who go through their program come out extremely capable and ready to handle college. It is a down to earth program using core knowledge, good discipline, and high expectations for the kids. You kids will work hard but thank you later on for a great education. Ridgeview has been in the top three schools in the state for the last six years (academically) and number one for the past two years. But if you are looking for a school with a great football team look elsewhere.
Bit of a drive from Platteville. If it were me I'd locate my house so that driving to work or to Ridgeview would be doable.

Every comprehensive high school prepares students for college. And not every student is intending to go to college. The comprehensive high schools have challenging course work for those students, as well.

I live in Greeley. Don't I repeat Don't move here I am very involved with District 6 right now and they are having huge money problems. May I suggest stay west of the I 25. Eaton maybe or Platteville I work at a doctors office and the kid that come in from Platteville seem to like the schools. Good football team.. sports Hope this helps. My best suggestion is rent don't buy until you really figure out where you want to be we bought right away and wish we would of shopped longer.
