Hello everyone,

I'm moving to Boulder as a grad student in solar physics at CUB. I've got my living situation figured out, and me and my brother, sister, and mother are road tripping out there from Atlanta, GA. They'll be with me for 5 days in Boulder, then they're flying home. We want to camp, maybe in one of those ski villages. Where should we go to get a good view of the mountains/city, while still allowing us to easily (maybe about an hour) get back in to the city?

Also, if you have any suggestions on what we should do while they're in town, I'd love to hear them, or get links to other relevant threads.

Thanks!

Do you want to backcountry camp in a tent, camp at a campground, or stay at a ski resort?

What time of year will they be here?

There is no camping at "ski villages" but there are plenty of camping options in Colorado.

What city? Boulder?
You can camp in Rocky Mountain National Park - an hour from Boulder: Campgrounds - Rocky Mountain National Park (U.S. National Park Service)
You can camp in the Indian Peaks Wilderness - a bit less than an hour from Boulder: Arapaho & Roosevelt National Forests Pawnee National Grassland - Indian Peaks Wilderness
Golden Gate Canyon: Colorado Parks & Wildlife - Camping, Cabins, Yurts & Guest Houses

Use Neditate's links or for ski village accomodations, look into Summit County.
