Default Questions about real estate lawer

Hi,

I am to buy a house myself, this is the first time I do this. Now I've almost come to the point to issue offer. My friend mentioned to me that I can hire a real estate lawer, but he does not know in details what the lawer can help.

If you have the experience before, could you share it?

Also please recommend some lawyer who cover Longmont/Louisville area.

Thanks a lot.

If you don't have personal recommendations from people you know and trust, you can call the Metropolitan Lawyer Referral Service.

A real estate lawyer may find things in the contract that your real estate agent forgot. But s/he may not. A lawyer isn't necessary unless you are buying a house without a real estate agent helping you.

Make sure that you get an owner's title policy in addition to the title policy for the mortgage company. Double check any information you get from your agent. Drive by the house at different times of the day and night to see if the neighbors are noisy or how the traffic is. Also, drive around about a mile each direction and see what is around the house. If there is any open lots or fields, check directly with the county to see if it is officially open space or private land. If it's private, just be aware that the owner or future owners can do whatever they want with it (as long as the county will let them).
