Boulder's smaller, on average more expensive, and definitely has a different "vibe." It's largely a college town, and so has the problems and challenges of being home to a major university (Denver also has colleges, but it's big enough that it's culture isn't defined by them, as is somewhat the case in Boulder). Both areas are politically liberal overall, but Boulder is much more liberal than Denver and has a reputation as being one of the most politically liberal areas in the state. Boulder has easier access to the mountains, shorter distances to the foothills and mountains, overall older neighborhoods..... what is important to you in a city? I think if we know what your "ideal" city is, we can help you compare Denver and Boulder in a more helpful manner.
