I would rather do the Boulder commute. Seems to be a lot of construction on the road between Denver and CoS. Fewer places to take a break and grab dinner if traffic gets too bad too.

That construction is just about wrapped up. The express lanes they added between Castle Rock and Monument are supposed to open tomorrow. I still wouldn't wanna do that commute regularly, though. Monument Hill can be treacherous in the winter.

In case you didn't know, Google maps allows you to specify a departure time. Giving start times of 7am-8am, the drive from Arvada to north Boulder is given a range of 30 minutes to one hour. And of course weather issues like snow or ice will increase those drive times.

CDOT has cameras you can used to view the traffic conditions yourself on the routes you might take. I'm not sure how much COVID has affected Denver traffic, as I no longer live in the area, but it's also something to keep in mind.
