Default looking to move out of florida

we are starting to look for good places to live, to move to. we want to find a place with cooler weather (we live in South Florida--basically a place where jungle animals are comfortable) and where we can find good jobs (healthcare and social service). Also we have children so good schools and activities. We are considering colorado, washington perhaps. any thoughts?

Yeah, I have thoughts.

I just moved BACK to Colorado 2 months ago from.. Vero Beach. I was there for a year on the beach. I had 9 acres of jungle with bobcats waliking around my property. I cannot even express how much I hated it!! Crabs, fireants, no-seeums, rust, seaspray, sand!!

I know most people think I am nuts because I lived on the beach but, NOTHING beats Colorado's weather and Mountains....SOOOOO glad to be back home!!

My family and I moved to Louisville near Boulder a couple of years ago from New Orleans. We just love it here. We have 2 kids 12 and 14. The quality of life is great and we are happy with the Boulder Valley School district.Best Places to Live: Top 100 - Louisville, Colo. (3) - Money Magazine
BTW, did you go to the University of Michigan?

sick of florida is on a distinguished road
Default re- looking to move out of Fl

We too are incredibly sick of Fl. We live in the Tampa area. We are planning a trip to Colorado in Aug to see it in the summer, then will be back to check it out in the winter. What area is best to raise kids?, Ft. Collins, Denver, Boulder???? A good school district is very important to us. How are allergies out there? I am assuming it cant be worse than Fl. I hear there is a big water shortage, is this true? How different is the snow from the mideast?
Any info would be great. Thanks

We were happy to get out of the south. We researched the Boulder Valley Schools, Cherry Creek Schools, and Douglas County Schools. We are happy with the Boulder Valley Schools. My allergies really aren't too bad at all. The weather is so nice. No humidity! We can actually leave our windows and doors open and nothing flies or crawls inside our house. We really don't get too much snow in the Denver Boulder area. When it does snow, it is usually very light and powdery. If there is a huge water shortage it's news to me. We are always trying to conserve water and not waste it. But it can go year to year. This year there was a lot of snow in the mountains, so there should be ample water to go around. Check out the threads on the Louisville/Superior area. We love it and I'm sure you will too.

Did you like my new word ( waliking)?

My Mom and Sister are still in Florida. My sis lives on the beach in Daytona Beach Shores and my Mom in Tavares. They are still upset that I moved back but, I couldn't take it anymore!!
It's weird cuz we were raised in Denver and, when they come for visits, they get all dried out!!HA! Me, humidity makes me feel tired and yucky.

I think the majority of people get used to dry weather more than humidity.IMO!
Now don't everyone jump all over me for that one!! At least, not all at once!

Sheridan, I totally agree. New Orleans might even be more humid than FL. We just love the weather here in CO. When we go back south to visit, it's always a "bad hair day"!
