Horizons at Rock Creek in Superior
Is anyone familiar with this apartment complex in Superior? How do you rate it? Is it clean, safe, easy commute to Boulder?

I've never lived there but know several people who have.
It looks clean, and I don't think it is unsafe.
The commute to Boulder is not bad (during non-peak hrs), and it probably takes about 15 mins.
We live in Rock Creek and often get into Boulder the back way- up on CO 128 to CO 93. This is much faster than US 36 on several occasions.

When my family moved to the area a couple of years ago, we lived in the Horizons. We had a 3bdrm apt. We have 2 kids, they were 13 and 10 at the time and we enjoyed our stay there. Never really had any issues with the complex. Very easy to get to Boulder and I don't think there is a big safety issue. Simpson Property Group | Dwell in Satisfaction

Don't do it. Go to ApartmentRatings.com to get an idea
(1) water issues (overflow, dripping, etc)
(2) parking just about impossible to find for you & your guests
(3) apathetic reps (once you sign the lease)
(4) dog poop all over the place the majority of the time - disgusting
(5) settling issues (doors, windows, shower doors etc do not close right)
(6) forever to get anything REALLY DONE that is maintenance related
(7) noise issues are not enforced
(8) say will be fixing roads but never really do
(9) pigeon issues - they don't do anything to get rid of them
(10) ever heard of an apartment complex that charges for water, sewer and trash? Well this place does and it isn't cheap.
(11) cheap appliances that have issues. No spray nozzel in the kitchen sink which is a pain. No ice maker in refrigerator (even though there's a hook up for it). Most appliances are so basic they should be replaced but are not.
--- I think I can go on but will stop there.
Pros?
(1) near mall
(2) fairly easy access to Boulder and Denver
(3) nice floor plans in most units
(4) community center that MOST of the time is usable.

Are you looking to buy or rent? The people who have bought there a few years back (and recently sold) just lost money. They are overbuilding in that area, and so your property has the potential to decrease in value. (though this is arguable now due to housing downturn).
It's safe enough, clean enough. But cookie cutter, and bland bland bland. I have had several friends who live there and I always get lost! (since all units & streets look the same) And, your visitors will often have to park block(s) away. It is by the mall with easy access to Hwy 36. Some people like this type of lifestyle, and if you're one, then you may like it too.
Personally I would go for historical downtown Louisville (as a non-Boulder alternative) above and beyond Superior. I would even consider Gunbarrel over Superior. The condos in Gunbarrel are more likely to hold their value as they maintain a "Boulder" city address. There are also more parks & natural vegetation in Gunbarrel.

LovinLifeColorado, I suffer all these as well. I will add that the floors in the units creak very loudly- no sneaking to the bathroom at night. Also, for good example of noise (and violation of zoning law), drive by units 101 & 103 in building 81- Henderson Construction has been using the garages as workshops since May. We're talking reciprocating saw cutting metal drain pipe at 7:50 a.m.
