Wow! This thread has been going on for a few months now, eh?

I moved here as an adult, with young children. I love it. Yes, it can be pricey, but after living on the West Coast during the height of the housing boom, it seems manageable. Of course, most places in the states seem manageable after that. LOL

Personally, I find the people here relaxed and happy to be here. I think this is a huge point to consider: PEOPLE ARE HERE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO BE. I have yet to meet someone that feels "trapped" here. This is the first place I have resided in where that is the case. And it is a phenomenal thing. When people are happy with where they live, they are generally more pleasant to be around.

Now, as for the original post way back when...

If you happen to be hiking near NCAR, you can look down into the valley and see trees upon trees in the Louisville and Lafayette cities. It's quite breathtaking. I know you aren't expecting a lush landscape, but the leafy trees in these areas may ease up your view on the rain difference between your current area and here.

I cannot personally speak of beginning your own business, but I do wish you the best of luck. I think the fields you've mentioned are a hot commodity here, and perhaps hooking up with an already established practice would be best to get your feet rooted before branching off on your own. I'm sure you've already visited that option, as you seem to explore all sorts of ideas and opinions though.

Best of luck to you!
