Research Boulder CAREFULLY. Personally I think there are better places to live in the area. Boulder is really much more... "controlling" than you think it should be.

Longmont is close, and I think nicer, as some others have said Louisville and Superior are also nice. Downtown Erie has a real "Mayberry" feel to it. The "Tri-Town" (Firestone, Fredrick, Dacono) is the area I live and it's growning, lot's of new stuff is coming out here, and it's primarily a family area (if you want that of course).

When the family and I moved out here from Ca, we use Upack. Worked out really great for us, but count on the max delivery time being the actual delivery time.

Thanks for your suggestions on packing and areas surrounding Boulder. I am planning to check out L'ville, Superior, Lyon as well. Thanks again.

Hi! My husband and I just moved to the Boulder area and are loving it. We're 39 and 42. We had hoped to live in Boulder, but in the end weren't willing to trade location for so much house. We are renting a townhome in the Saddle Brooke community of Superior (found on Craigslist) and are very happy with it. We just bought a house in Louisville, but won't move in until late May. We're excited to get to know the area more. So far we have found that everywhere is very easy to get to, including Boulder.

One thing I have to say...I know it's out there, but we have not experienced the problems many express with Boulder. At least no issues that I haven't come across in TN or FL as well. Most people we have met have been very friendly, including students, and there seem to be just as many carnivores in town as there are vegetarians : ) (I'm more vegetarian than carnivore but have no issues with either) I only say that to downplay the idea that everyone in the town is an extremist.

We have a wonderful realtor who has lived in Boulder for 20+ years, if you ever need a referral.

Oh, we used UPack. They referred us to Albert Moving who contracts with local movers to load and unload. It all went smoothly on the packing end. They are storing our stuff in Denver until we're ready to unload, when we move to the house. Easy to work with. I highly recommend.

I think you're making a great choice and wish you the best here.

One thing to keep in mind when reading anything about Boulder in this forum is that there is a HUGE difference between living in Boulder proper and the so called Boulder "area". Many of the surrounding towns within 15 to 20 minutes of Boulder are like night and day compared to the actual city of Boulder.
