Do not buy in Lafayette if you think you will get into Peak to Peak. You have about a one in five chance for Kindergarten, and about a one in ten chance for the rest of the school. It has gotten harder to get in the last couple of years since the high school has placed in top nation wide and state rankings.
Last year after the places were all filled up in the kindergarten, there was still about 250 kindergarteners on the wait list. The wait list does not cary over from year to year. Siblings always have priority.
Lafayette schools are not considered as good as Louisville. Douglas elementary and Platte Middle are Boulder schools and they are both great. If you purchase a home in the corner of Lafayette that feeds into those schools you are fine. You will still need to come up with a plan for High School. I would not consider sending my kids to Centaurus. Or Angelvine Middle.
All of the Louisville Schools are very good, both middle schools very good, and the High School is good, just too big for my tastes.
Good luck.
