Default Boulder or Tucson?

Hello all,
I'm hoping someone (anyone!) can help me with information/opinions on a major decision I have coming up. I'm a recent college graduate and after months of job hunting with no bites, I was offered two jobs within a week of each other! One is located in Boulder, CO and the other is in Tucson, AZ.

The position in Tucson would have a sightly higher salary and responsibilities. I'm weary of taking it because I'm a Michigan girl who's used to snow and leafy trees, not the desert and cactus. Plus, from what I've been told Boulder is very liberal and outdoor oriented, which is perfect for me.

I have to giving my acceptance to one of them within the next week or so. I've never been to the Southwest, so any opinions would be extremely helpful!

Thanks,
A

Boulder is great. Many folks from Michigan come to Boulder and fall in love with the area. Four seasons, clean white snow that usually melts and evaporates quickly. Spectacular mountains and great skiing. Sunny winters, very little humidity. Outdoor sports, educated liberal people. It is more expensive than michigan. Check Superior, Louisville or Lafayette for a little better living/renting affordability.

We were thinking Tucson also recently. When we found out about the Border War going on right now and home invasions and kidnappings and things in Tucson we decided it is too dangerous to go to Tucson. For me I'd prefer the warm climate year round but we're not wanting to live close to the
border right now. I would choose Boulder if I were you over Tucson.

Boulder, hands down. Much more beautiful, scenic area with lower crime.

Lou Dobbs reports Drug Cartels working in Tucson -- and a few weeks ago five Mexican nationals were arrested in Flagstaff for dealing drugs.

If we legalized and taxed drugs then we could stop these problems and we would promote peace by doing so. But that will never happen in Arizona, because the state is so Socially Conservative, and everyone here hates people like me who are Libertarians. New Mexico is more progressive, and legalized medical marijuana 2 yrs ago.

I would think about this very carefully before moving to Tucson about the drugs and crime. My sister in Seattle wants to go to grad school in either Ft. Collins, Boulder, Tucson, or Las Cruces. I've cautioned her about the border cities.

You might look at the city data dot com crime index for Tucson vs. Boulder - it's a huge difference. Even Flagstaff has three times the amount of burglaries / robberies / rapes / etc. as Boulder.

Is marijuana - medical or otherwise - legal in Colorado? I heard newsradio 850 KOA radio's "Big Steve" discussing this and don't remember.

850 KOA's Big Steve and Rick Barber for President ! I better stop there

This is seriously a question Boulder or Tuscon? Unless Tuscon has suddenly morphed itself into some entirely different town since I last visited--pretty easy--Boulder wins no contest..like comparing filet mignon to Top Ramen..

In Denver only:

Adults 21 and older may possess up to an ounce of marijuana without penalty in the city.

But:

It is still illegal on a state level though.

Medical marijuana is legal statewide.

Medical Marijuana in Colorado

Quote:
Amendment 20, approved by Colorado voters in November 2000, authorizes the use of marijuana to alleviate certain debilitating medical conditions: cancer, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS positive, cachexia; severe pain; severe nausea; seizures, including those that are characteristic of epilepsy; or persistent muscle spasms, including those that are characteristic of multiple sclerosis. In addition, patients and physicians may submit petitions to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to include other medical conditions that may be alleviated by the medical use of marijuana. Amendment 20 authorizes a patient or a primary caregiver who has been issued a Medical Marijuana Registry identification card to possess no more than two ounces of a usable form of marijuana and not more than six marijuana plants, with three or fewer being mature, flowering plants that are producing a usable form of marijuana.

Aschmidt, I'm just real curious as to your career field and/or what is the new job?

This process fascinates me to no end. As if a Boulder employer had to troll for employees as far afield as Michigan!!

So what are you? A binary neuro-lingual proctamnological ambesoligist or something?

Let's be clear: You want to legalize, Coke (Blow, nose candy, snowball), Meth (Speed, Ice, Crystal, Heroine (Smack, Nose Drops) MDMA, Mary Jane, LSD, all forms of Steroids, ?

Is this correct?
