"Pet Friendly" Boulder?
My husband and I are moving to Boulder next month. We are trying to find a short term rental since we are in the process of buying a home. The main problem I have found is that most of the apartments and/or condos that are so "pet friendly" won't allow my shepherd mix (who is 45lbs btw) or my husky who is also smaller. All I have heard is how pet friendly boulder is but I'm just not seeing it anywhere. Also its basically impossible to find a short term rental that allows pets at all. I need help since we have to be in Boulder in less than a month and have nowhere to live... Thanks

You can try craigslist. My wife and I were successful finding a shared, month to month townhouse for our move in August. Good luck with your search!

It's worth checking the Boulder Humane Society's Pet-Friendly Housing in the Boulder, Colorado Area list.
If you scroll towards the end of the list, as of today, for example, there are some single family residences available that allow pets and offer "flexible" lease terms.

Does it have to be Boulder? If so, try the Habitat apartments in Gunbarrel for short-term, hopefully pet-friendly rentals.

Thanks for the link, I am going to check it out right now! No it doesn't have to be in Boulder, but we haven't had any better luck in surrounding areas either. I called the Habitat apts and they don't allow shepherds, unfortunately. Its sad that they base it off of a list that someone who probably hates dogs made up. I have seen more aggressive labs than, huskies or shepherds, and I worked at a vet for years.

Instead of saying he's a shepherd mix, how about using one of the other, less "scary", breeds that's in the mix ?

I tried that, but he looks like a "mini" german shepherd, so thats enough. His vet papers even say he is a keeshond mix but most places say that if he looks like a shepherd they won't take him.

Allowing only certain breeds seems pretty stupid and ignorant. You either allow dogs or you dont.

Quite a few places do specify what breeds they won't take (eg; pitbulls or dogs over 35lbs) , but if a complex states it accepts all pets and then says, "Oh but we didn't mean yours," that's got to be at least illegal, surely? Have you checked places in Longmont, Lafayette, Erie, Niwot or Louisville? With the rental market being as slow as it is, you might also be able to negotiate something. Maybe offer to pay a slightly higher pet rent? Otherwise, and I hate to say this, you may need to board your puppy somewhere until you move into your own place.
