There is an excellent regional bus (GS) that runs between Boulder and Golder via Hwy 93. It has stops in between and at least at Univ of Colorado Boulder, you get a bus pass that is good for the whole Denver/Boulder area.

What is a good city in between Golden and Bolder to settle in? I was thinking Broomfield or Westminster?

Would like to get your recommendations
Those two are not exactly between Boulder and Golden. Golden is south of Boulder. There is no other town/city on Hwy 93 between the two. The western part of Arvada might qualify as being between the two, though it's a bit east of 93. Broomfield and Westminster are south and east of Boulder. Neither is close to 93.

The only place that is "between" them would be Coal Creek Canyon, although it is closer to Boulder than Golden. Otherwise I'd suggest the northern edge of Golden near Hwy 93.

There is another place that is not considered that is between Boulder and Golden and offer the best public transit if you need to go to both places. That place in the Central Core of Denver, Downtown Denver.

I can hear you all say--are you crazy?

Well, everything is changing rapidly. We all know that access to Boulder from Downtown is good with the frequent regional buses to Boulder. Many people take it day and night back and forth. It is quick with many buses and express buses. What we do not think about or may not know is the new west rail line that goes into Golden from Downtown that will open in April of 2013. The line will be a quick trip to the Golden area from Downtown. The rail will end at the Jefferson County Government Center and there will be a Call-n-Ride area encompassing most of the Golden City area. I have toured the line and recently have been at the Jeffco Center and there is big parking garage now under construction at the end of the parking lot.

In addition, the current construction of the BRT and the expansion of the HOV lanes along Hwy. 36 to will speed the way into Boulder in the future from Downtown Denver.

With the problems of 93 because of weather and wind, it may be that this diagonal way, Northwest to Boulder and Southwest to Golden, to and from both areas through Downtown, may be faster or the only way available to get to both areas if 93 is closed.

Just a thought. Now you can have your laugh!

Having lived in Broomfield for 35 years, if I had to make a Boulder/Golden commute location decision, I would look at the area around McCaslin/Indiana & Hwy 128 (SW Superior or western Broomfield). Use 93 when it's nice, Indiana or McCaslin as alternatives.

Excellent suggestion. I take that way often. Going North to Boulder you will go through Superior on McCaslin though sometimes it does get somewhat dangerous on these stretches with wind and the hills as it is still much open space. Going South on Indiana, it will terminate at west 64th but then you are already close to Golden and there are many routes available into Golden.

This should help explain why there isn't much "development" between Golden/Arvada and Boulder....in case you were wondering.

We all know about Rocky Flats but that situation is now in the past and the land will still exist as a nature preserve. In addition, there are other large tracts of open space, parks, reservoirs and protected lands along the foothills and in western Arvada that add to the livability of this part of the Western Suburbs.

However, there are newer housing development in Arvada and western reaches of Westminster, as well as Golden moving northward. In addition, Arvada has acquired much land to the west and and south and development has been started and more plans are in the works. Much of this development will be stimulated by the finishing of the 470 beltway. http://marketing.cbre.com/Denver/Nor...sed-golden.pdf One of the biggest development in Arvada will be Candelas with residential Candelas, Smart Green Homes in Colorado, New Homes in Arvada and commercial Property Overview development.

Default omg

We live in Golden and drive regularly to denver and boulder. Boulder is bad during rush hour, otherwise it is fine. I have never seen an accident (whereas 25 is Craaazy).

DU is a haul-my son visits there regularly when he comes.

But the more important questions is why would you think your kids would want to live with you during college.... They need space to grow into adulthood. Space to make their own decisions.

Anyway families make their own decisions. Golden would be good...
