I breathed a sigh of relief, too. I'm driving a burgundy Honda.

It all comes down to this....people, especially in Boulder, all talk about how they want peace in the world and try to be all pro activist...but they can't even be considerate of their neighbors. Where do think peace begins?

Also where the heck is everyone going in such a hurry? I say nowhere. Slow down, don't worry be happy!

If we just slowed down and were thoughtful and considerate of others, the world would be a better place boy and girls!

I was driving home for lunch this afternoon and Im stopped behind a purple minivan on 75th heading north. Hes so impatient with the light that he starts sneaking up and through the light, thinking its going to change for him for doing so. So the light turns green and hes completely under the light so he no longer can see it, so were all wating behind him while the light is green to get a move on and hes all aloof like hes not doing anything wrong. Whaaaaa?

Glad it wasn't a middle-aged woman in a green subaru outback; we can add men in purple minivans to the list of the worst. Beware!

I can guarantee the driver of the van was doing something other than paying attention to the road, i.e. cell phone, computer, what ev. I drive this route every day and EVERY DAY someone does some dumb **** that actually amazes me every time. Why when the light turns green can 90% of the people I’m behind fail to NOT ACCELERATE, it takes seriously 4 to 5 seconds to get it going. Also, when one jackass runs a light, why do 13 other people decide to follow said dumbass? After being here a few years, I understand that this is a countrywide melting pot and people have different was of driving, but sometimes it is so ridiculous. I've seen cops watch people do these kinds of things and never pursue, but I’ve had a speeding ticket for 10 over in a 30. Pay attention Boulder; this place is congested, you need to keep things moving, people actually work here. Also, do folks here know what the right of way is? I do not think so... Bicyclists you also need to pay attention riding 3 abreast on a busy street, WTF?

I love Boulder and I'll probably never leave but things could be so much better if people were just a little more considerate and attentive. Honestly, it bothers me if someone is on my ass when I’m driving, so I'll pull over for them. Not only because someone is invading my personal space but I know what its like being behind some schmo going 10 under the speed limit on the cell, smoking a joint, changing radio stations with 4 F@#$%&! dogs in the back seat with the directional on. Does anyone get what I’m saying or relate?
From my observations, the situations you describe that occur in Boulder occur in many other cities as well. Personally, I have noticed in Boulder that the drivers can be exceptionally courteous. For example, not speeding up when I'm trying to change lanes and actually slowing down enough to let me into the lane I need. Just my opinion... Nope...don't drive a green subie...

You may be on to something, here . . . ! Seems that something is missing in Boulder . . . Was it always this way ? Any social ecologists reading this ?

Indeed! Same with the Bay Area drivers and they are even worse then Boulder . . .

Interesting because Sedona-Flagstaff is the Metaphysical Pro-Peace capital of the S.W., and they have the best drivers, along with Seattle . . . driving at or under the speed limit . . .

Durango and Albuquerque drivers are good, too . . . very polite . . .

However, Santa Fe, NM drivers are just as bad as Boulder . . .

Las Vegas, NV drivers drive at the speed limit, and when the light turns green, everyone takes off immediately, but for whatever reason, nobody speeds that much - totally unlike The Bay Area and L.A.
. . .

Oh, and btw, on the subject of subarus, why are there NO TRUCKS in Boulder? You go to the rivals of Boulder (Flagstaff, Durango, South Lake Tahoe, etc.) and you see lots of Pickup trucks.

And, for the record:
Subaru percentages in the Rival Cities . . . I haven't been everywhere, but here are my buest guesses over the past 3 years - please provide your own reply if you have a better estimate . . . the time of year of visiting may influence percentages . . .

Durango-Bayfield 21% in 1st place
South Lake Tahoe 16%
Flagstaff 12%
East Bay Contra Costa County 11%
Reno / Carson City / Minden / Gardnerville 10%
Mammoth Lakes / Bishop 9%
Albuquerque-Santa Fe 8%
Boulder 7%
Las Vegas-Henderson, NV 0.1%

So there are plenty of trucks in and around the Boulder area but there is no where for them to park. I have heard from many of my customers that they prefer to take back streets to get around and outside of this city just because noone gives them any lehway to drive the damned things. We have an Accord and a Wrangler and I really could not imagine driving around, running errands in anything larger. I believe what you said about Las Vegas is true and that would really help things in the city of Boulder; believe it or not. I just do not get why that when the lights turn green, do people not accelarate right away. Its almost like noone here is paying attention, and you can even watch it happen. They are looking down, or reaching for stuff in the car, playing with the radio.

Thanks for all of your replies folks, I hope people read this and realize what their doing. On an end note, my mother always told me that you should always leave 15 minutes early so that your not rushing; my arguement is that I wouldn't be stressed if people just payed attention and got the f&*%$*# move on. You can never win arguements with your mother obviously..
