Default Pit-bulls in Boulder area

We've noticed the breed specific legislation in Denver and a few outlying areas and we are wondering about the mentality outside of those areas. Are there any sharp contrasts between communities about pit-bulls? What about future changes? Is it likely the entire front range area will go anti pb?

Unfortunately my crystal ball is the shop, so I cannot foretell the future Seriously, who can say what the future can hold? Reason did not get us into this mess, so it will not get us out of it. Recall that the Denver ban came in 1989 after a pit bull attack - at the same time a Rotti mix killed an infant, but didn't get banned. It's hysteria. We bring our 2 pits into Boulder frequentlyy (we live in Golden) and our reception is usually great from the citizens. Don't recall anything bad. OTOH, we were off in another county, quite rural (past the foothills) at a trailhead. A truck pulls in, stops, the occupants stare at us, then roll down the window and start screaming at us for having such dangerous dogs, telling us we should not be there, etc. I just turned my back and kept getting ready. And then on the trail almost everyone we met just pulled away quickly, trying to avoid the dogs, etc. I could only think that there was some recent news event in that turn concerning pit bulls. Everywhere else people just come up, say 'is that a pit!' and start with the petting. In contrast, another local community has pit legislation, but we talked to the officer in charge of inforcing it, and he hated the law and refused to enforce it. The one time he did was for a roaming dog that he had to deal with anyway - from his point of view it had nothing to do with the dog being a 'pit'. So, who knows what the future will bring? If you are looking to bring dogs into the area, Boulder is probably about as safe as you can get, as they are very liberal, full of activists, etc. We feel quite safe in Golden, but as I said, reason does not create this mess, so reason isn't really going to do much for you here.
