It's like living in a convenient city without all the annoyances of being in a city. Not sure if you can get that isolation in Boulder. That'd be an interesting comparison. I've been corrected here in thinking that Colorado Springs was very conservative, so it'd be fun to hear.

You can find the same isolation in pockets, but you're better off in outlying areas of Boulder. I've never been a huge fan of Boulder, as some of my previous posts would perhaps indicate . I find it to be very crowded, especially on warm winter weekends when people are off of work and wanting to spend time away from home. Most commercial parking lots are designed for aesthetics and not for functionality, one of my biggest pet peeves. THE PARKING LOTS ARE HORRIBLE. EVERWHERE! I've found the general population to be hurried for the most part, never really wanting for small talk. It's "go, go, go and more go" all the time. Pretentiousness is ubiquitous. My partner works for the Boulder PD and some of the stories he comes home with.. tisk tisk.

College kids aren't really a serious issue throughout the city, as they are obviously contained mostly within the vicinity of the university. Summer is a much better time to be in Boulder when 25,000 students leave for 3 months. The city is much quieter and, arguably, more enjoyable then. One thing I will give Boulder a thumbs-up for during the school year - there is no shortage of eye candy. There, I did it. My first POSITIVE comment about Boulder.

Uh oh, one more. It is one of the most beautiful cities in all of Colorado. The majesty of the Flatirons cloaked in frost on a cold winter morning with a purple sunrise illuminating their flanks is undeniably inspiring. The drive into town on any number of roads from the east (especially South Boulder Rd) is breathtaking, especially on bright, sunny mornings. In an odd irony, the City of Boulder has actually laid off workers in the past in order to fund flowers and other visually appealing flora throughout the city. Only one of the "unique" traits Boulder possesses.

Bravo, sir, Bravo! We knew you could do it. I have to agree with you on the parking garages, having experienced them firsthand. Ech. But so much more to love, you can take the bad with the good.
