There is a Safeway at 287 and Arapahoe, which is in Erie; and a King Soopers at 287 and Baseline in Lafayette. There is a big shopping center at Highway 7 just east of I-25, but I don't know if there's a grocery store there. There is a Sears/KMart and a Home Depot and a ton of other stores.

Good to know there are stores around, but with all the new homes and building out there, it seems like very few conveniences for the amount of people. I suppose, however, eventually there will be a lot more. I just don't have a lot of patience to drive very far for groceries or restaurants--especially if it means I'll be doing it for a few years before the stores finally show up.

As pittnurse indicated, there are two along 287 within about two miles of each other. For people who live in Erie, a drive over to 287/Arapahoe isn't that far. My parents live in an established neighborhood in Westminster and they're just as far from a grocery store as we are (about 3 miles). I am not sure if there is a typical grocery store at Hwy 7/I-25, but there is a Costco. This area is rapidly developing.

There are rumors that one will be built along County Line Road in the future (probably between Arapahoe and Leon Wurl).

I think part of the appeal of areas such as Erie is that most neighborhoods aren't right next door to grocery stores and strip malls (at least yet). It still appeals to people who like the quiet and uncrowded areas and don't mind if they don't have every convenience at their fingertips.

As people move into this area, of course things will change and many conveniences like grocery stores and gas stations will be at every intersection. Part of our draw to the area was the lack of all of that, even if for the short term.

I like Erie, and know that stores will be coming in the future...but what bothers me is that when I looked at the schools online, test scores were low and parents reviews were not complimentary. I had found some really nice homes, under 400K, but with the school issue...it has me looking at other areas like Parker and Littleton.

Some of Erie is in the St. Vrain Valley School District, and some is in Boulder Valley. Be sure you are checking the right scores for the house you find. There is a new elementary school going up there, too. It will be in St. Vrain Valley SD and open this fall, I believe. There is the open enrollment option, too.

We looked in Erie Village? (craftsman/prarie style & victorian homes), Estates, Vista Ridge, and a few others. They said "Erie" for the Elementary and that is the school I checked on Greatschools. Many of the complaints were about overcrowding issues.

Do you know what subdivisions the new school will service?
