Honest opinion of Erie
We are looking at a possible relocation sometime this winter. We have already flown out and scouted around. Dh's work will be in Louisville, right next to 36. We fell in love with Erie Village, but to be honest are concerned with how some things are developing out there. I.E. a sewer treatment plant is going in kind of close to Erie Village, an electrical substation might go in directly across the street. This all concerns us--as these houses are not cheap. But we fell in love with the houses, the neighborhood feel, we stopped and talked to a couple of residents and lots of families with young children--like us. We aren't sure how long dh's commute would be--we think about 25 minutes--which is longer than we were looking for. I guess I am just asking for anyone's experiences with Erie/Erie Village :-)
Thanks,
Lisa

Isn't Erie Village just lovely!!! My husband & I planned on buying there after we sold our home, but that wasn't in the cards for us. I didn't know about the water Tx plant...maybe I'm glad it didn't happen. Another area you might look at is in Firestone...can't think of the name of the neighborhood specifically...Mount Stain Vrain Road is one of the roads...it's a less expensive version of Erie Village. Not every house is custom, but it's designed in the Nevue Victorian style with carriage house and alleys. If you are truely interested send me a private message and I'll dig up the name of the neighborhood, we have very good friends living there. In fact I just recommened the area under the I'm done, Moving Thread.
Good Luck

Erie what's it like?
I am heading out to the colorado area next week for aearly recon trip for moving to the boulder suburbs area and Erie is a place I will be checking out. I would love to here from people who have first hand experience with the town. I have reviewed/researched the usually forum search and internet info i.e climate, location, history, schools. I am leaning towards the western and southern areas of Erie and specifically homes under 450k . Two areas were "Indian " something and Erie Commons which looks very nice and affordable with decent space.
I am curious how the weather there is in the winter. I saw that it has a much lower annual snowfall than the surrounding areas. Also, wondering how far away the mountains are as far as seeing any kind of view nothinh like boulder just curious if you can really see the mountains much.
I will be commuting to the Greenwood Village/DTC area about ten times amonth so two -three times a week on a off hour schedule 845 am and returning around 400pm and am curious if anyone has ever done the commute and what they thought.

That sounds like a LONG commute! My friend just moved to one of those new neighborhoods in Erie and she loves it, the views of the mountains are beautiful. But they work up North. I really think that commute might be horrendous for you, see if other posters agree! Good luck!

This commute topic stuff has been beaten like a dead you know what so I won't belabor it here other than to say coming from the Boston suburbs and looking at a anything less than 40-45 minutes for commuting as quite acceptable I am not very concerned about the drive othe rthan the gasoline price andsuch. Plus, like I mentioned it won't be more than a couple of days a week and the time will be mostly off rush hour.

Well, you did ask and MorningGlory gave his/her opinion. It could take at least 45 minutes to the DTC from Erie in non-rush hour traffic. I live in Louisville and my daughter lives near the DTC but north of it and we always plan on 45 min. to get to her place.

I am curious as to where you found that information. Erie is in the general Northern metro area and as such it is my experience gets roughly the same amount of snow as anywhere else nearby. Generally the snow is only a problem a few days per winter.

I recently sold a new house in Erie - there were two accidents one at Speer & I-25 and the other at 120th & I-25. No easy way to get around either place, it took me two hours from my office to get to the walkthru.

I was trying to slam Morning Glory. Glory if my post came off as harsh, I apologize. I appreciate all of the information and well wishes I have gotten on here. I guess my Northeastern persona will need some mellowing out before moving out to Colorado

I guess I just didn't get it. I've re-read it all and still don't get it, but if you were joking, OK, I accept that. I'm from the northeast, too. You'll do OK.

I'm not offended, Pitt I'm a woman LOL. Galaril why not consider someplace like Castle Rock where your commute would be 10 mins?
