Mayweather/Marquez did at least twice as many PPV sales as UFC 103 this past weekend. Boxing is nowhere near dead.

Most of the fairweather fans (those who bring the surge of money to a major fight) are not interested anymore. Pretty much after the "Tyson" age was over, there hasn't been anyone like him to inspire the fairweather fans again.

As for the welterweight fights, there are some great fighters out there, but like it was said earlier, they don't get enough press. The diehard fans are there, but that's not enough.

I think if the Heavy Weight Division was revamped, and held the same spark that it used too, a good number of those fairwhether fans would return.

HW just needs one dynamite American HW to clean house, and it would have that level of competition again
