Boxing is a better choice for Kimbo than MMA was. He is a brawler and his street fights were all striking. When he was doing MMA, his overall game was pathetic aside from punching. I hope to see him pull out a couple wins, im a fan of his.
Now his street fights were a joke though. Majority of his opponents were ordinary people who had no business going with him. The one fighter who gave him any trouble, kimbo's "crew" would come in and take away the momentum. Kimbo's street fighting is highly overrated.
at about 1:10...looks like he caught a front foot from Seth...Kimbo had his head down and caught Seth's kick...look close at it...about 1:10...
After he caught foot to face...he lost balance and went down...and got pounded...
In boxing that would never occur...so this is not a close or even fair comparison to the rules of boxing...where kicking is not allowed, nor can you continue to hit someone once they are down...
If this were a boxing match...do to the different rules, I'm sure the outcome would of been much differrent...
The rules of boxing actually favor a fighter like Kimbo...very much so...
It has been over 18 months since he announced his intentions of seriously competing in boxing and I haven't seen a thing that would indicate he is still pursuing the sport. He probably realized after an ass-whooping of a sparring session by some seasoned amateur that his chances of succeeding we're slim and none.
Let's face it, a guy like Arreola would eat him for breakfast, there's no way he competes at the level of either of the Klits, and they aren't a shadow of the talent that once reigned in the HW division. Don't look for any PPV Kimbo matches anytime soon...hell, don't look for an ESPN 2 match featuring Kimbo. Let him stick to TV and movie appearances as a pseudo tough guy, it's a much easier way to make a living.
And Roy Jones Jr. was wrong the last few times he predicted he'd win a fight.
No offense but i'll rather take the opinion of a proven ex-champ over an armchair analyst like you. Kimbo may not have the technical skills as the pros...but he can definitely give them a run for their money. All he needs is a strong training camp and he must stay FOCUSED!
Clearly that video shows that he was caught napping. It happens..even to the best fighters. I agree with the assertion that boxing better suits him. He had no business running around the octagon with those MMA lads
