In terms of flat out boxing skills, Ortiz is nowhere near Floyd. However, he was able to walk through punches from Andre Berto who hits harder than Mayweather and deliver a great deal of punishment (though Berto's chin has always been suspect imo). The key, as always, will be to get Floyd out of his comfort zone, his defensive shell, and into heavy exchanges; get Mayweather to fight Victor's fight instead of his own. No one has really been able to do that yet and I figure Ortiz will be no different. The fight is probably more dangerous for Floyd on paper than it will be in reality.
"Money" Mayweather by unanimous decision. Being a southpaw, hopefully Ortiz will be tune-up for a 2012 showdown with Pacquiao...
Ortiz will need to learn how to cut the ring off effectively in order to neutralize Mayweather's movement. If he chases Floyd in a circle he'll be countered all night and Floyd will pick his shots. I honestly don't think Ortiz has a chance, perhaps a puncher's chance if he can get Floyd on the ropes with some body work or catch him with something he doesn't see like that upper cut that dropped Berto, but Floyd isn't a wild puncher like Berto, and I think he will easily outbox Ortiz to a UD victory.
Ortiz is tailor made for Floyd, he comes straight ahead, he throws haymakers and wild punches, and fights with his chin out in front of him. It will probably resemble the Gatti or Hatton fight.
Everyone is tailor made for floyd because he is a MASTER OF THE SWEET SCIENCE... HATE HIM OR NOT... I NEVER STOOD TOE TO TOE IN A STREET FIGHT AND JUST TRADE BLOWS WITH SOMEONE... WHY WOULD I...
stupid fight, how many PPV's will it really sell. Makes no sense to me.
To be honest, it would not surpass 800k. But knowing the huge amounts of Mexicans in the US, i wouldn't be surprised if it gets atleast 900k or reach 1M.
Between the Mexican fans rooting for an Ortiz upset, the Mayweather fans and the Floyd-haters praying for him to finally lose, I think it hits 1M PPV buys.
I haven't been catching up to boxing these days, in which channel is the special?
