Pfft! Margarito didn't ruin Cotto. The PLASTER inside margarito's gloves helped him beat Cotto during their first fight. Although (admittedly) not in spectacular fashion, Cotto got his revenge in the second fight.

Rumor has it PLASTERMAN margarito will have a weight advantage over his next opponent by way of 10 pound PLASTER suppository. That guy's a genius!

You know, I am one of the guys who cant wait for Mayweather to fight manny and to knock manny's ass out, but the more I watch Mayweather or tv, in interviews, on 24/7, the more I learn to dislike him.

I agree that he is a talker which is why I don't like him and I want him humbled. I like crap talking, but he cannot talk crap because he does not fight everyone, very selective. For example, he will not fight Manny or Sergio who I view as "possible" winners, more so Sergio. We will continue to wait.

As a person, I like Cotto ALOT. Fighting Mayweather will be tough. In my opinion, he took a beating against the plaster master and since then I have seen a reduction in his capabilities. I truly wish him the best and a win for us to shut big mouth.

It will take Floyd 4-5 rounds to get into a rythem and figure Cotto out. After that he will pick Cotto apart en route to a UD. I'm a big fan of Cotto but the truth is, he's too slow for a guy like Floyd and his defense is subpar. I really hope Cotto doesnt try to box with him. Not in a million yrs will he outbox Floyd. He's going to have to go back to his old ways and attack the body and be relentless throughout the fight if he wants to stand any chance of beating Floyd.

What a great night it would be if Floyd gets knocked the fork out in the first round.....and then reports to jail.

I live in Vegas and lemmie tell you, MANY MANY people here hate him with a passion.
Those of us in the service industry on the other hand L O V E him.
Not really 'him', but we love those crisp hundred dollar bills he hands out when he's hanging out.

The man is a classless filthy animal.
But he tips well.

I'll be in Vegas next weekend. Wish I had a ticket to this.

I think it will go the distance and Mayweather wins by UD.

Default A win for Floyd

I think Cotto has been damaged goods since he lost to Margarito. He took a terrible beating at the hands of a cheating Margarito. I suspect that he sustained some brain damage in that fight. After that fight, he took 7 months off before fighting some creampuff name Jennings. He then took 4 more months off to barely win a split decision against an overly defensive-minded Clottey. A year and 4 months after being beaten by Margarito, he can't survive the distance against Pacman, whom he outweighed and was taller than. He then took off 7 months before knocking out a faded, overmatched creampuff in Yuri Foreman. 9 months later, he fights the extremely faded and easy-to-hit Mayorga. It took him 12 rounds to put the undisciplined, wide-open Mayorga down and score a TKO. If anything, that fight indicated that Cotto's power had faded. 9 months later, he won a decision against Margarito, a man who was exposed as a very mediocre fighter.

The interesting aspect of this fight is how much Cotto can test Floyd with body shots. The Cotto who fought opponents before losing to Margarito was an exceptional body puncher. Diminished now however, I suspect that Cotto's body shots will be high in number but not as effective as they were earlier in his career. This is also true because Floyd is so agile and an exceptional defensive fighter. Cotto lacks sufficient knockout power to even have a chance by surprise punch.

Floyd also has a significant advantage in speed and is a better defensive fighter. This fight goes to Floyd likely by decision unless the referee waves Floyd off early because Cotto is taking too much punishment.

Default Great fight by both fighters.

Cotto fought a great fight, and certainly came prepared. He's a warrior, no doubt and gave Floyd a tougher fight than many expected. Maybe saying that he suffered brain damage was a little too strong. He's only 31. Hi strategy obviously was to get Floyd in the corner and on the ropes, keep him there, and pound the hell out of his body. He was partially successful too in the middle rounds. I thought in teh final two rounds, his lack of endurance would catch up to him, and Floyd would hit him enough, maybe force the referee to intervene. I knew Floyd would win. Credit to Cotto for fighting a great fight though, lasting the distance, and make a great showing of himself. Cotto obviously a hall of famer. I appreciate his presence in the sport.

Floyd just better. Great fight as I expected. I always wanted to see these two go at it, and I wasn't disappointed. Floyd showing his age a bit though. Aside from the rap stuff, I'm one Boxing fan who appreciates the genius and talent that Floyd represents.

Cotto fought a great fight. Probably close to the best fight that he could fight. I was a bit disappointed that he declined to do a post fight interview on-air. He was fairly successful in cutting the ring off at times, but there was just no way that he was going to keep Floyd against the ropes and in the corners all night. Indeed, I was surprised that Floyd allowed himself to be trapped in those situations as much as he did. Mayweather did take more damage than most are probably used to seeing him take, but nevertheless he was in control of the fight for most of the night. There's no doubt in my mind that he could've gotten Cotto out of there in the 12th round but elected not to press his advantage. I guess that's the part that frustrates some fans about Floyd....

That's true. I did expect him to get Cotto out of there in the late rounds, and he looked like he could do it in the 12th. Floyd seemed to like Cotto. I suppose Cotto can be thankful that Floyd didn't view him the way he viewed Arturo Gatti. They were respectful of each other. Floyd had his kids come to the fight with him and so did Cotto. Cotto's family was watching, including his mother being at ringside and his wife. Floyd does have a heart and this what I like about him. A fighter doesn't need to knock everyone out to satisfy me. He just merely needs to prepare to be his best and give his best. I enjoyed the fight. I'm glad Floyd one and glad Cotto made a respectable showing without getting knocked out or down. Both are great fighters.
