Shame. I hope the Macho Man pulls out of it OK.

I've actually attended 2 of his matches. Before one fight, i was walking beside him through the casino, shockingly a small man. Regardless, both of his fights occurred well past his prime but they were extremely entertaining. I hope that he can pull through.

Did a search a few minutes agao on Google and the Wikipedia heading says that he died today.

The doctor said that he was brain dead, but his death hasn't been ruled official yet.

Looks like they're going to remove the machines which are keeping his organs working, tomorrow. Macho Camacho is brain dead, clinically dead. Just a damn shame, but not a surprising end.

His life seemed to be very troubled over the last several years. Drug and alcohol problems, burglarizing an electronics store, shot in a carjack attempt last year, on trial for child abuse of his teenage son. The Macho Man appeared to be on a self-destructive path.

Whether heathen or saint, villain or hero, the legacy of Hector "Macho" Camacho is now permanently inscribed in the unerasable pages of time and history. And each of us will recall him in whichever form we choose. Without denying his obvious defects, I choose to remember his happy and jovial nature, and his outstanding boxing record: 79 Wins (45 by KO) - 6 Defeats - 3 Draws.

There was enough color and drama in his life for a Holywood movie at par with Raging Bull.

You will now rest in peace, Champ!

(Hector Luis Camacho: May 24, 1962 - November 22, 2012)

I saw Hector Camacho fight back in those days when you'd find top caliber fights on a Saturday afternoon on free TV. It was probably 1981 when I saw him fight for the very first time. I recall how the ref constantly admonished him for "spinning" his opponent. He must've done it at least three times during the fight. He went on to win the fight. When asked about the "spinning" he admited that it was a bad "F-ing" habit he needed to break.

In another "Macho Memorable Moment," I recall one of his colorful comments after losing to Julio Cesar Chavez. A Spanish language reporter caught up with Camacho as he walked. . .to Chavez' victory party! When asked how he felt after the loss, Camacho answered: "Everything hurts. I'm even pissing blood. I'm pissing so much blood that I'm gonna ask mom to lend me a kotex."

When I saw what happend, I was shocked and almost dropped my phone. Hector was one of my favorite boxers and personalities of the '80s. Incidentally, I was watching a lot of YouTube vids on Hector just two weeks ago. He was one of a kind.

WHile I understand how hard it is for his family to remove him from life support, in reality IF he were to survive this, he will simply exist in a vegetative state. I hate to see the Macho Man go, but I also want to see him rest in peace.
