This article seems to indicate that Alvarez is "very close" to finishing up negotiations for a May fight date between himself and Mayweather.

That could be a hell of a fight.

Robert Guerrero was mentioned too. I thought that one was coming first.

Nobody wants to see Robert Guerrero. That's a waste of a PPV. Sounds like a typical Floyd move though.

The best fight to be made for fans right now is Canelo. Canelo has the size, the skills, and the strength to give Floyd at least an good and exciting fight.

That's what great fighters do. They take on tough opponents.

Nobody in their right mind would give Guerrero a chance against Floyd. You would be better off taking your money and throwing it in the garbage.

He just beat Andre Berto in an exciting battle. So Robert Guerrero is not really a journey man. Floyd would have to go up to his weight the same way he did vs Miguel Cotto, instead of weight draining him. I do prefer Canelo though.

Floyd has gotten out of jail and needs to tune up. He's been inactive and his skills are eroding just a bit. He's not a full step slower, but maybe a quarter step slower, and he isn't getting any younger. He hasn't taken hardly any punishment his entire career, so he's still very dangerous and easily the best fighter in the world. Next fight will be on the same card as Alvarez, with a fight between the two likely happening in September.

About the matchup with Alvarez, Floyd wins easily unless his skills have eroded. Floyd is the only man who can beat Floyd Mayweather, and I hope he retires before that happens. Alvarez does have a puncher's chance though. He can do to Floyd what Tarver did to Jones in their second fight. In that fight, Tarver caught Roy with a punch that Roy never would've gotten hit by earlier in his career. It was a sign that Roy's reaction time had greatly diminished with age. Same could happen to Floyd if he's not careful since that kind of thing sneaks up on a fighter.

I have to comment on that statement:
That win is now tainted since we now know that Tarver uses PEDs. Additionally, Roy's rapid weight lose killed his performance.

Floyd will not lose to that guy. Floyd is not a real fighter by accepting all challengers, he carefully picks his opponents. I assure you that he smartly evaluated Canelo and decided this was win/win situation.

This post is on point.

Except Floyd will not fight Canelo. Probably will never fight him. Floyd hand picks his opponents and if they are not a sure thing, he will not fight them. Plus he isnt a toe to toe fighter, he doesnt get in on the inside so he never leaves himself vunerable. Youve gotta be one of a few things --- too old, too tired, washed up, or too inexperienced, all others need not apply.

Besides.....pretty (tired) boy is going to fight "the ghost." A sure thing. Why not fight Marquez (again) considered the #2 PFP? Oh - right because you saw that last fight he had where he knocked Pac man the hell out.

And Canelo is fighting Trout. Who is nothing to sneeze at.
