I recently read where Adrien Broner and Floyd Mayweather agreed that they would never fight because they are "close friends." Neither wants to run the risk of their limitations being exposed by fighting each other. Broner might be able to beat Floyd, but then again, he might be exposed as an inferior version of Mayweather by Mayweather. It would be an interesting fight, but the "friendship pact" keeps them safely from each other. I think it's ridiculous.

Another pact was between Ken Norton and Joe Frazier. That would've been an interesting fight, but they seemed afraid to face each other. Any other pacts you know of?

Wladimir Klitschko and Vitali Klitschko have a friendship pact I guess, but I completely understand. Imo, the whole idea of a friendship pact is complete crap in boxing with the exception of the Klitschko's.

Imagine if someone tried to pull that kind of crap in golf?

LaMotta vs Graziano never got off the ground for what is perceived as a friendship pact. Utterly ridiculous. I think LaMotta bowed out as a courtesy to Graziano, who was a far inferior fighter and would have got his ass handed to him by Jake.

I don't think Broner or Mayweather are as much "friends" as they are afraid to be exposed by the other. Their loyalty is to the almighty dollar and their respective egoes. Although Broner's last fight with Malignaggi exposed some of his weaknesses and I think Broner would have more to risk if he signed for a fight with Mayweather.

Dirrell vs Ward, but I think it was mostly Dirrell in this case who backed out.
