Was it because he was mocking Mexicans like in De La Hoya fight with the backward sombrero?

Or was he trying to rile up mexican support, along with Black American support, his trunks were black with stripes displaying the colors of the mexican flag

He was doing it to **** off some Mexican fans that hate him, while at the same time riling up Mexican support from the fans who don't know much about boxing. This is marketing 101....if he had worn any regular color trunks, then you wouldn't have made a post asking about it...

Holy **** this makes alot of sense. Some mexicans that mainly follow soccer have a rivalry with Argentina ( Maidana's home country) and since alot of them dont follow boxing much they would have probably went with floyd.

While those who hate him would see his design as mocking them and root for maidana while at the same time making them more angry and paying for the rematch.

Floyd may be a cherry picker from time to time but he is a absolute genius in terms of getting attention

I'm sure it was for an honorable reason.

Any insights about this great sport? Please share them.
