Adrien Broner exercises rematch clause to fight Marcos Maidana for welterweight title - ESPN

Looks like Adrien Broner is moving forward with a rematch with Marcos Maidana likely in April. Your thoughts?

While I think it's very risky for Maidana, I applaud him for having the heart to take his licks and stay at 147. Clearly this could go very bad for him, but I think he really has the chance to prove himself and turn it around with a tested veteran in Maidana.

Even if AB loses this one again in the same fashion, the first fight was electric from start to finish. An absolute FOTY candidate. Why not have it again?

This is make or break for Broner, unless he wins in a narrow victory, grants a 3rd rematch and this becomes the new "Pacquiao vs. Marquez"

It will end up in the same result - a victory for Maidana.

Default corner is matriarchal

What is going to change? Broner is a good puncher, but has an ego the size of the colossus of Rhodes. In the protestant American style his corner is of the disordered matriarchal variety. Broner is the boss in that hierarchy as he orders around the trainer and his morbidly obese fan-boy dad. Broner has little hope for improvement with no male leadership in his corner. His place in boxing history will be as a precocious over-achiever who will quickly faded into oblivion after he was beaten down repeatedly by a real man in Maidana.

Excellent view and very well stated. One can only hope that you're right. It is my hope that Maidana separates Broner from his senses in convincing fashion, sending this embarrassing, ignorant fool, crashing to this reality that you speak of.
