I think Cotto would give GGG a run for his money. Cotto has a ton of experience and has a good combination of power and speed.

I think Canelo would get destroyed in two or three rounds. Canelo is still very young and one-dimensional (power shots), and stiff/slow. He would try to stay in the pocket and trade shots with GGG, and GGG would finish him quickly.

Switch those two fights around you'd have it right. NO WAY a GGG/Ward fight is a precursor to an Alvarez/Cotto fight. NO WAY. You have Ward who is pretty much universally recognized as the worlds #1 P4P fighter, and GGG probably up to #3 on that list (FMM being #2). Alvarez and Cotto probably dont even make top ten P4P. It would be a good fight for sure, but all the really have going is that they both are Spanish speaking. Thats it. GGG/Ward would be the bigger draw and bigger fight.

I have to disagree.

GGG can't be that high up on the pound for pound list because he hasn't any great fighters yet.

Also, a Cotto/Alvarez fight would be bigger than Ward/GGG because Ward hasn't fought in a long time and he's not a big draw... on the other hand you have the classic Puerto Rico vs Mexico battle/Old champion vs young lion angle and two big name boxers. There is no way GGG/Ward would be a bigger fight right now.
