Will Adonis Chickenson fight Kovalev? What about Kovalev versus Andre Ward? Interesting fights to be made here in the light heavyweight division.

I don't think Ward or Stevenson want to fight Kovalev. I think it is more likely that Ward will fight him. I would like to see GGG and Kovalev fight. I know that Kovalev would have to go down in weight or GGG would have to go up, but it has been mentioned before.

He wants to make a career of fighting guys like Kenny Getup and Willie Last, now he is taking on another no-hoper. He is almost 40, not sure what he is waiting for, but he is content to get a decent paycheck fighting journeymen. He will soon be forgotten.

Stevenson has a really, really bad habit of keeping his hands down. I'm not talking about low...I'm mean down. He'll get knocked unconscious by Kovalev if he fights the way he usually does. This is of course, hypothetical. I don't think he wants any of that.

I think he's scared of getting KTFO, like a highlight reel, top 5 of the year, referee doesn't even count kind of KTFO.

Stevenson is following the Mayweather model...wait until the threatening challenger ages THEN initiate a fight. This model is why Boxing has lost fans. I have grown to like Canelo because at least he tries to fight everyone.

You're right. His pride won't allow him to be stretched out on the canvas, but he hasn't got the skill to prevent it from happening against Kovalev or Ward. Al Halmon really knows how to milk a fighter, just ask Danny Garcia who hasn't fought anyone noteworthy in his last three fights and is now talking about a match with Berto.

What puzzles me about that strategy is that Stevenson himself is 38 years old. While he hasn't been in any wars to age him, he only has about a year or two left to cash in on a big money fight.

I like Canelo, but if he doesn't fight Golovkin sometime in 2017, I'll lose a lot of respect for him, as will much of his hardcore Mexican fanbase.

Someone had to bring Mayweather to another boxing or MMA conversation, huh? Anyways, Floyd broke records with the highest PPV and ticket sales. People wanted to see him in the ring. That's just how it is. If a band that plays bad music only sells a few tickets and the arena is almost empty, what does that tell you? Nobody likes the band, nobody wants to hear their music, nobody wants to see them play. As for Floyd Mayweather, well, you get the idea I hope.

For someone who is almost 40 his options may be running out. Why not take a big fight? At least he will be guaranteed a nice paycheck.

Jeez, you will defend that guy the death on every thread. Are you in his will or something?

I am part of the The Money Team so...juuuuuuust kidding

Naaah. A point was proven once again. He is missed so people continue to bring his name in any sport conversation.

Aaaaaaaaanyways, going back to what I said...For someone who is almost 40 his options may be running out. Why not take a big fight? At least he will be guaranteed a nice paycheck and leave with a bang if he happens to win.
