Default Kelly Pavlik vs Paul Williams is Postponed Once Again

By Mark Vester

According to the Youngstown Vindicator , WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is unable to move forward with his December 5 clash with Paul Williams. The fight was previously scheduled for October, and postponed due to a staph infection suffered by Pavlik and later rescheduled for the December date. Pavlik's trainer Jack Loew says the staph infection has not gone away as expected and his fighter is unable to close his left hand.

Default Stalling?

At first, I agreed but upon further research it appears quite differantly. Infections can be deadly, if untreated. I don't know if Pavlik's infection was contagious but I remember hearing about infections spreading in wrestling/football locker rooms, taking down a number of people. I am no doctor but rest and isolation have to be the cure. Pavlik could not even close his fist so it was good one. This fight was to good to be true.

Check out the ESPN boxing page for a close look at Pavlik's hand, I don't think he's milking it, looks like it may take a while before his hand truly heals.
