Not clear as to whether or not he's talking after a fight with Manny or scrapping the idea altogether. He'd be a total fool to opt for a two year layoff and avoid a fight with Manny in November. I do think Floyd will take the fight, he's not stupid. He knows if he doesn't he'll lose face big time, and every sportswriter and fan will eat him alive.
Mayweather already said he isn't going to fight again this year or next year, and Manny is already talking about retiring after 1 or 2 more fights that will take place soon because of his political career. The fight will not happen all thanks to Mayweather.

Thanks for the link. However:

What I'm asking for is a source that backs up the earlier posting that Mayweather is 100% taking a break now and not fighting Pacman, confirmed. Definitive, not speculative.

Does this even make sense: He is taking a couple years off to help Armando? He can help Armando and box at the same time. Is this the best excuse Mayweather can come up with? Just look at him say this stuff, he doesn't even believe half the stuff he says. I can just imagine laughter in the background.

I found this video but it was edited, and it's going to repeat parts and the person added text words to it, but Floyd says in the video that he is going to take years off, before that he said that he won't fight this year, but I don't that part is in this edited video.
Thank you. But that's still not definitive, it's speculative, and I think I see what's going on.
Both sides are playing cat-and-mouse games. From Mayweather's frequent "retirements" to Pacman's questionable needle statements, and now that Pacman has made a concession - which by the way is not really what Mayweather asked for (Floyd really wants random tests up to the day of the fight, but Pac isn't having that) - Floyd is stringing things along by making an unofficial statement about the possibility of taking time off. That's called speculation about things to come, and I believe honestly that both sides are trying to drum up more interest in the fight and fatten the purse. I think the negotiations revealed a significantly lower payday than either was expecting. That's why Pac's camp is coming out with all of these public announcements calling Floyd out. That's why Floyd is up on the TV screen in an unofficial capacity making ambiguous statements about taking time off. That's why Floyd is up on stage with 50 Cent performing fresh off the heels of claiming to want to focus on his gym. You've got Pacman talking about "one more fight", which does nothing but get fans ragging on Mayweather to take the fight as they think it's the last chance for him to do so. They're both brilliant strategists.
They're both playing games to drum up support and get fatter checks. I guarantee you almost every major celebrity - Diddy, Fiddy, Kobe, Shaq, Ali, Smokin' Joe, Lebron, hell...probably even OJ Simpson have called Floyd about it by now, especially with all the Twitter activity. It's free marketing. Pac's country couldn't care less if he fought Mayweather now that he's won the seat; it's the American public that really wants to see the two of them and both fighters have played to the camera with perfection. I think it's stupid for Mayweather to have made these comments, but they're still speculative, not definitive.

I think you have a good point. They both seem to be playing the cat and mouse game in order to generate a frenzy and stir up additional hype. Like I said earlier, I think Floyd is smart enough to recognize that he can't sail off into the sunset without making a fight with Manny. I think it'll happen before years end or right after the holidays. We can only hope.

Manny Pacquiao already said that he is going to retire this year to start political career, so if Mayweather is playing cat and mouse then he isn't playing the game right. This is his last chance to accept the fight.

PAC said that, true. But that is still not definitive. Just like Mayweather saying that he would "retire" years back yet he ended up coming back. I figure one of two things happens: one, Pac gets voted out of office as the Pinoy voters realize that just because you're famous, that doesn't necessarily make you capable of solid decision making. Two, three years from now when nobody cares, they both do a big hoopla comeback and finally fight for a big payoff.
Or, my theory is true and they are both just playing games with the media to pad the purse.
