Survive (Bozeman, Thompson Falls, Trout Creek: clubs, activities, inclusive)

What do you think can an older single woman from the the south who hates South Georgia summers survive in Montana? Around the Trout creek area? I hate being hot eleven and half months of the year.

I would assume you'd have gotten more responses in the general Montana forum, because Trout Creek isn't really close to Bozeman. Trout Creek is a very small town, and without any support group it might be a bit hard to get settled. I'd consider Thompson Falls instead--a little bigger, but just as scenic.

Hey - it's only 5 hours from Bozeman! As they say in England, "To an Englishman 100 miles is far, and to an American 100 years is old!"

It would depend on your personality and self sufficiency. And your personal experience would depend a great deal to having a certain amount of luck. That is very rural area without a town atmosphere.

If you lucked into to meeting inclusive type folks right off the bat, you'd probably have a swell experience. However, your neighbors might not be that type of folks. It's not like there will be an assortment of volunteer activities or clubs to join or community ed classes to take. There is likely a church or two in the area & a bar or two. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about social options.
