Manhattan? (Bozeman, Belgrade, Bridger: houses, movies, high school)

Can anybody quite familiar with Manhattan, MT give me a good description of it: The town, the people, the topography, whether or not there is ranching in the area. And any other notations one might have. All opinions and advice are welcome. Thanks!

Lots of ranching, small conservative town, nice views of the Bridger and Gallatin mountain ranges, and not much snow at all. That's about all I know anyway.

Thanks for your reply...do you know as to whether or not there are alot of celebrities and/or hollywood type folks in the whole area? Can you or anyone tell me about Bozeman as well. Is it fast paced and modern?

countryway, you can get a fact sheet for the Town of Manhattan by going here American FactFinder and input Manhattan for "city/town" (leave out the ZIP Code) and Montana for "State", and then click "Go".

You'll get a lot of demographics for the Town of Manhattan, and if you click on "Reference map" (it's on the right hand side), you'll get a map.

Old original post...lol, but "yes" there is a Sir Scott's Oasis. And "no" the owner has never layed eyes on Jane Fonda.

I haven't been there in over 20 years and it's gotten built up a lot around there since. But back then... let's see what I can remember from when I lived down the road at Belgrade:

The town itself is fairly flat, as it's set along the river, tho the Horseshoe Hills start a few miles to the north. Most streets are unpaved, but solid (not mudholes). In the core part of town there are some very old houses (mostly large two-story family home types), even some built in the late 1800s, with large yards and many mature trees. There are a couple of fairly typical midwestern type schools including a small high school. Downtown is the crossroads of the two main streets, and goes for a block or so in each direction. There's the steakhouse previously mentioned, a couple bars, and back-then there were also a bank and a hardware store (and I vaguely recall a small Chevy dealership tho I may be thinking of something else). There was a nice open simple park on the northeast corner of the "downtown" area. Very quiet, low-key, low-traffic, the quintessential farm-and-ranch town, with one stop sign to its name. (I imagine that's changed, tho.)
