Hello,

I am moving to Bozeman for further education (MSU) after I graduate high school here in California, Orange County. I have a few questions regarding this.

1. What prepaid cell phone plans work there or which one would you suggest? Currently I am using T-mobile but it is not going to work there.

2. I am not planning on living in campus Dorms because I think it is frustrating to move out every year and it is more costly then just renting a room. Are there rooms available around the campus?

3. Jobs? How the jobs looking there for students?

Thank you for your help.

1. Verizon is first choice and AT&T is second.
2. A lot (but not all) of the rooms for rent are only for the school year so you will have to move in and out anyway. Check craigslist for apartments. As long as you qualify you can sign a 1 year lease and not worry about moving for the next 4 years or however many years you will be at MSU.
3. Depends on your skills. MSU has a lot of local students and businesses will play favorites. A local will get a non skilled job before you will. But there is work. You just have to be aggressive about it.

On a side note, you might want to dorm it the first semester since not many people will rent to someone without a job. Even if you have enough savings to pay the rent up front. Prepaying rent is a big red flag for landlords because it's harder to evict you if you damage the property but have paid the rent. And seriously, a freshman in college is not the most desirable tenant. Make a good impression.

Verizon would be the best choice for prepaid coverage (IMHO).

Have you been accepted already to MSU? The deadline for entrance has already passed. If you have been accepted and filled out the housing paperwork, you would know that incoming freshman HAVE to live on campus. Having an apartment off campus isn't an option for a freshman, unless you are going to live with family within a certain distance of the campus.

Strait talk works pretty well. People complain about the limited data (450mb).

Enjoy your time at MSU.

College students commonly hold jobs as night auditors(front desk) at hotel chains and merchandise night stockers at the big box stores like Costco. Here is the multi listing job service that covers the state. You can search by county . Bozeman is in Gallatin County.

Verizon is by far the most reliable cell phone carrier in the state.
