Taxes ? (Bozeman: sales, real estate, buying)

Trying to figure out what taxes I would have to pay if living in Bozeman, Montana.

Are there any websites that can help me with this.

Montana has an income tax.
No sales tax or "use tax".
Yet.
some towns have a local option sales tax.
If a general sales tax is ever proposed, it is limited by the State Constitution to 4%.
Real estate taxes vary by county and town, as do vehicle taxes.
That is why many of us happily drive vehicles that are 11 years old or older. We have PERMANENT registration, so we never have to renew and pay more taxes!
Also, all trailers (regardless of size or type), all boats (regardless of size or type), and all motorcycles (including street legal ATVs and UTVs) have PERMANENT registration.
As far as websites, I have no idea. Perhaps a google search for Montana Taxes would get some hits for you.

The Tax Foundation is a good place to review taxes in all of the states. Another interesting analysis is effective buying power which factors in taxes and costs of goods and services.
$100 buys you $87 in New York, $106 in Montana and $115 in Mississippi. That's quite a difference.

Of note, sometimes there are added taxes in Bozeman. For example, they added levies for the schools each year over the past few years, and on several cross-streets they added a tax for all people living on those streets to get them re-paved, etc. Be sure if you are going to buy a property that you also ask about street and area specific issues like these, as they would not necessarily be listed in the general tax forum.

There are also things like dog/cat licenses, kennel licenses (if you have 3+ dogs on the property you must be licensed and taxed as a kennel), and other things like that.

Research RID and SID. Those are added to the tax bill when applicable and can be the better part of a thousand a year.
