Yep, it will be roughly that same amount every year. It will go down over the years a little as they have some formula for depreciation of the car value but newer cars are very high. I have an older truck that is more than 11 years old so I figured it out that I would break even in 3 years if I kept the truck by registering it permanently.

Wow that is pretty extreme I guess you have to take some of the good with the bad.
Ours in Ohio runs about $60 a yr. But their are other things here that are more expensive so its a trade off. Pashta you'll have to let me know how your outcome is with plates.

The driver's license was $40.50 - but did not require a driving or written exam as my daughter had a valid license Florida. However it is best to make an appointment before going - which can be done on the computer.

In addition to her old license my daughter needed a birth certificate or passport and a proof of residency - (she took a copy of her lease)

Yes I got a little fainty at the counter as I registered the Toy and Ford, $480 and $560 each a few years back.
Oh for the day they will be old enough to have the permanent plates. That being said at least I did not have to deal with the DEQ as in the past.

If she stays in MT, I don't know if it will be $380.00 each year, or if that is just the initial registration fee.
Whether you have to pay sales tax when you bring a new car into the state varies by state and often depends on how long you've owned the vehicle out of state first. I think CA makes it 6 months or something like that, so you can't just drive to Vegas and buy a vehicle there to duck the higher CA sales tax. But if it's one you owned and drove for a while elsewhere, no tax.

I am not sure where FL stands on it, but nothing to be concerned about now, who knows daughter may love MT so much, she may never leave.

Yes I agree, I was looking at those cameras as well. It definately was the right decision. Yesterday it was a daytime drive with 1 - 3 inches of snow, a forcast was for another 6 - 9 inches of snow last night, that is possibly a foot of blowing snow. Today the MT Road Report is showing the highway to be snow & ice, reduced visability due to blowing snow.

Sort of like getting out of town while the getting is good.
