Probably best to search the MLS yourself for a long-term rental and then contact the listing offices directly. Realtors make very little money for securing a renter so it's hard to find one that will show you rentals other than their own. Link to the MLS here InnoVia Login You can click on "Map-based search" to restrict to a particular area. You probably want to stay within five or six blocks of Minutemen Cswy., say 6th St. south to Cocoa Isles in the north. Check Google maps and you'll get a better idea what I'm talking about. Everything in that stretch is close to the beach and downtown. I just searched and found 20 active listings from $500 for a tiny Surf n Sun efficiency one block from the beach to $1500 per month for a 3/2 home on a canal on Blakey Blvd. Most of the 20 were condos, some oceanfront.

Good luck.

I've traveled to Cocoa Beach over the years for business and pleasure and much prefer, as you call it, "the real Cocoa Beach." I like the laid-back, casual atmosphere but there's still some nice places to visit and the beach is pleasant.

Has anybody moved into the "The Surf" restaurant building? I miss Almas, which was where the Slow n Low BBQ is now.

I miss Almas, too. The Surf building is still empty but the Mango Tree has reopened with new owners and an Italian theme. Heidi's has a classy, new covered outside dining area on the sidewalk. If you haven't eaten at the Fat Snook in south Cocoa Beach make the effort to go. Pricey but the best food in the county.

Thanks for the update, insider. Ah, yes, the Mango Tree. Glad to hear a restaurant in that location is back. I enjoy the jazz at Heidi's. I keep hearing good things about the Fat Snook. I'll keep it in mind.

Was really sorry to see The Surf go. It had been around for years, at least when it was Bernards. Always enjoyed the local crowd and Bob at the bar.
