Moving to Merritt Island.. A few questions (Rockledge, Everglades: houses, living in)

Hello,

I have a work opportunity possibly opening up in Rockledge and was looking at Merritt Island as a place to live should this all work out. I've given blood, I mean lived in Florida before. Actually both my sife and I worked in the Everglades and 10,000 Islands with wildlife. Anyway we are also microfarmers wanting land to work with as well. Ideally a couple of acres to farm. So my questions are as follows:

1) What is the northern part of Merritt Island like regarding masquitos
2) Is there any zoned agriculture that one can have livestock (chickens, goats, pigs)
3) Is there any health or environmental concerns that I should be aware of?

Don't know too much about the area, but here's what I can input:

About the mosquitos - You won't find them much if you're near a lot of houses, but if you live in a rural area you will be swarmed with them. Probably not as bad as living in the Everglades - but still, you'll feel them if you're not surrounded by houses.

Health and environment concerns - Not that I'm aware of.
