North of Cocoa, on the east side of the state opposite of Orlando. Generally considered a run down area.

Wait, really? Just google Port St John , FL and look at the map. (I really think you are pulling our legs since you have such a high reputation on this forum). As for your OP, this was all over the news last week. (You can google that too.).

This story really does not have a lot to do with City-Data so don't see the point in posting it. It is a very sad story of a family tragedy. May they all RIP and prayers for the entire family.

As for where Port St. John is it is on the Intercoastal South of Titusville and was a great area to go to a park on the river and watch the shuttles launch. It is a town basically that has only been there from the late 60s /early 70s. It has beautiful condos on the river and nice homes in a majority of the town ,but like almost every town in America there are different areas that might not be as well groomed or have a little more laid back residents who like to enjoy what might be considered red neck things to do by people who have only lived in the cities of the North. On the outskirts it would be an area where you can probably have larger yards/property and maybe have some horses and other animals.

If you own a boat and can't afford to live on the water there is a nice park to put your boat into the river, there. In early shuttle days we used to overnight it on the river to watch the shuttle launches. We used to also go up there to fish and always saw manatees on the river there so Port St. John has great family memories for my family.
