Is there anything to say about this area? How are the schools? Crime? Is it rural/are there nearby amenities? I see some beautiful homes for sale online, but don't know much about the area.
Thanks!

Mims is a very rural area with not a lot going on there. In terms of schools, Mims is in Brevard County which is one of the top several school districts in the state (out of 67 districts). Pinewood Elementary in Mims is "A" rated. Otherwise students go to middle school and high school in Titusville. Titusville Astronaut HS is "A" rated as well. I'm not sure where middle school students are sent, most likely Andrew Jackson MS which is "A" rated too. Mims shows a fairly high crime rate but my impression is that the number/rate is skewed toward domestic issues rather than random acts. Much of the area is lower income which tends to inflate crime stats. Another interesting factoid is that for whatever reason the Mims area is very prone to brush fires during the very dry months (January-March) which could affect your homeowners insurance rates (or not..).

Default Mims, Fl. is a great rural area to live.

Julie, I've lived in Mims most of My life, except for approx. 11 yrs., and I really like living here, it's a small rural area that's staarting to get new businesses, We just got a dollar general, and they're building a new Tractor Supply Co., and We're about 10-15 min. From the Space Center, Wal Mart, and Titusville, Fl., it does have some crime, but You rarely ever hear about it. It's more of a small country community with access to the lake, St. Johns River, and Playalinda Beach, also the Indian River as well. All I can say is I enjoy living here. I'd also like to add as far as schools here, they do have some great schools, but the elementary schools are about 50% white/ black ratio, but as long as that's not a problem they've got great teachers. My Daughter went to elementary school in Tn and then We moved back to Fl where She's gone to Middle school, and now going into the 10th grade, and She really enjoys it, and has a lot of opportunities. She's into Colorguard now and really has a lot of fun! Hope that has helped!
