After reading the previous posts in forum regarding relocating to Melbourne, FL I have become a bit discouraged by all of the negativity of this area. My husband and I currently live in Virginia and are strongly considering moving to Melbourne, Fl area. I feel like we are in a good professional field to find a job however after reading about the poor economy and job market I am hesitant. Police officer and a nurse are our professions. Can anyone provide info for us relating to the local jobs for a police officer in the city of Melbourne? I have researched the local hospitals and appears Holmes Regional Medical Center would be my choice to work. Can anyone provide an estimated salary for an experienced nurse at this facility or in the Melbourne area?
How has the city grown over the last few years as far as improvement of restaurants and shopping? By reading the posts it didn't sound as if there was alot to do for a younger crowd. We are in our 30's.
Please feel free to provide any updated information or provide local places or surroundings cities that we should consider. We are planning our trip in April for a visit for further research.
Thanks.

It hasn't really grown much, more of a decline. There's plenty of fast food, and a few older greasy spoons that's been around since the Apollo mission days. Mostly small strip mall like places that all look the same for shopping.
You could work as a nurse, and he could apply here .... Brevard County Sheriff's Office: Welcome to BCSO |

Does Melbourne flood extremely bad during bad hurricanes?
I'm looking to move to Melbourne from Kissimmee. The only thing that worries me would be having all of my belongings washed away during a terrible storm.
