From what I hear, there are 4 STEM schools in Brevard County. Is this correct? Can someone tell me the names and locations of them. We are planning a move down at the end of the year and I would love to learn about them as both of my boys excel at math and science.

I know Palm Bay High and Stone Middle (Melbourne) are magnets for STEAM. I don't know the other two off the top of my head, but I would guess they are located more to the central/north part of the county.

Ok, those are 2 of the 3 I got already. The other was McNair in Rockledge. The 4th must be the elementary school then which both my kids are already out of. Does anyone know if these are lottery schools or public schools?

Here's a site that lists the schools and tells you about S.T.E.A.M. schools. The A includes Art into the STEM schools now.
STEAM reaches Brevard schools

They are public schools, STEAM is considered a magnet program.

They are public schools but you do have to apply to get into them. If you live within the boundaries of Palm Bay High I think it is still an automatic in, but an application is needed if live somewhere else. Of course there is a limit as to number that can be admitted into the school. Applications for next year were taken beginning in November and will end on Friday.

Lovely and of course, we're not moving down until at least the end of December and I have no idea where yet. Guess I'm out of luck then in that regard.

Check the web sites -- I thought I read once a student could get into magnet programs mid-year if newly moving into Brevard and space was available.

I have to admit, I don't know exactly how the STEAM curriculum options vary from what a normal middle/high school has to offer.

Well, here's to hoping we can get him in. From what I understand under the STEAM curriculum, it focuses more specifically on Science, Technology, Math, etc and my younger son is a complete tech/science head who hates traditional schooling so we think he could benefit immensely from such a program.
