I understand a new community (quite large) is planned for the area in and around Grant FL, named Emerald Lakes.

Does anyone have any information on this community beyond what's been in the newspapers? It appears that it's going to be a self-contained community stretching from 1A beyond 95.

Don't know much about it, but know the road is not complete so just in early stages of destroying the area with new housing. I would imagine the developer will have to figure out how to keep the homes from flooding since adjacent areas have a tendency to flood.

My thoughts are that the county residents were duped by the developers into believing the parkway was an alternate route to help with traffic back ups. What we got instead of a road to ease traffic is a meandering 35-40 miles per hour meandering road with side roads to build houses and defeat the purpose of being an alternate route around the congestion. It will be as congested as the rest of the roads during drive time. Hopefully they county has decided to make the developers pay for utilities and cost of a water and sewer plant to handle the 3,000+ houses so we don't have another 3,000 septic tanks polluting the river and land. Just not a fan of this development at all.

Kind of like the new St. Johns Heritage parkway, New road only 2 lanes with developments in the near future. Road will be or is already obsolete. Babcock is in disrepair now lets add few thousand more vehicles. SMH
